Rhododendron

Rhododendron is a type of evergreen flowering tree. The first rhododendron was brought to the West from China by plant hunters in the mid-19th century. Its exquisite and stunning flowers amazed people at the time, which led to the creation of many hybrids. Over 5,000 varieties of rhododendrons have been created worldwide. 

Groups of the trees can be seen near the parking lot under the Taihoden and near the west approach.
